Contact Analysis WASelf-esteem & Confidence
A question for you to ponder: If we were all capable of performing an accurate appraisal of our own self-worth... do you suppose the enormously lucrative Cosmetic Surgery industry, would be anything like as buoyant as it currently is?
How we feel about ourselves (positive or negative self-image), is predicated by so many things in life: our roles, relationships, body image, and our belief of what others think of us. This information (or misinformation) is gleaned from childhood, friends, family, the media, and via direct comparison with our peer group. Low self-esteem undoubtedly makes one more vulnerable to depression, and may adversely influence other aspects of mental health.
Poor self-esteem often makes it difficult to take care of one's self, and negotiate the stresses of daily life. It is hard to move forward when you are persistently unsure and critical of yourself; have difficulty making decisions; let others take advantage of you; or when you just don't have the inner sense that you deserve to have good things happen to you. Therapy can guide you in learning about yourself and your negative self-view. This can make a big difference in helping you to change old patterns, and enabling you to live life with a deeper sense of personal satisfaction.
The adoption of an "Integrated" approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy for self-confidence, allows us to blend a variety of techniques simultaneously within a single framework. It also means that we can offer you a choice of either short-term or long-term therapy solutions. As a result, we are able to tailor our services to match your individual needs and requirements much more closely than any single traditional form of therapy would allow.
Counselling and/or Psychotherapy are processes which allow you to talk about your feelings and concerns, within a confidential and supportive environment. It does not involve advice, labelling or judgement. Instead, it provides you with an opportunity to gain insight into your present situation, feelings and behaviour. As a consequence, you will be able to make a clear and informed choice about your future options in life.
